Our Delightful Eatery in Lancaster.
Enjoy casual dining in a relaxed and homely atmosphere.
Our kitchen team are very excited ahead of indoor hospitality reopening! We hope to have the kitchen back serving food from Monday 17th May. We will be launching a new menu as we reopen and will be experimenting with new dishes whilst we figure out what works in our socially distanced kitchen. Rest assured we will be offering home-cooked food like we did before with special emphasis on simple, fresh and tasty dishes.
We work closely with the finest local suppliers with top quality produce so we can offer home-cooked food on each and every plate.
We’re not planning to take table bookings at the moment. We don’t want to put time restrictions on your seat so please feel free to join us whenever you please and stay as long as you like. We have installed a traffic light system in the pub window where a red light means we’re full and have no tables free, a green light means we’ve got tables free and you’re good to come on in!
You’ll need to stay seated during your visit and sit in groups according to current Government guidance, we cannot allow large parties or “vertical drinking” at the moment.
Check out our TripAdvisor listing and see why we’re one of the highest reviewed kitchens in Lancaster.
The Sun Hotel & Bar is in the heart of our historic and vibrant city, nestled in the shadow of Lancaster Castle.

We are currently working on a slightly reduced menu due to smaller teams working in our kitchen and behind the bar which allows us to adhere to social distancing guidelines. At busy times there may be a little wait on food but rest assured we’re going as quickly as we can. We thank you for your ongoing support and patience as we all get used to post-lockdown service.
