The renaissance of the Sun Hotel & Bar began in 2003 when C2 Original Inns bought a ramshackle old pub
(63 Church Street) and began the long process of transformation. In 2004 we bought 65 Church Street and during the next two years set about joining the two buildings to form the Sun Hotel & Bar.
The Sun is situated in the centre of Lancaster within three minutes walk of the Castle and a five minute stroll from the train station.

As we are based in Lancaster's Conservation Area, we've gone to great lengths to maintain our historical heritage whilst discreetly ensuring that our guests have access to modern day must-haves such as free wireless internet access, satellite television, ensuite bathrooms etc. Our rooms are comfortably chic, en suite of course - each one luxuriously furnished in subtle colours and carefully soundproofed to keep the bustling city at bay.
The ground floor bar has received many awards and commendations since opening in 2003. The bar offers eight cask ales, over a dozen wines by the glass, fifty bottled beers, an excellent whisky/port/brandy selection and superb lunches. Our famous cheese/pate boards are available all day until 9pm
(7pm on Friday/Saturday).
The hotel is often fully booked and many rooms are reserved weeks in advance.
